Xiaomi watch launch rumoured for May

Xiaomi is holding an event on May 10 where we could see its new watch – rumoured to be called the Mi smartwatch.

We already expected to hear about the Mi Band 2, the Xiaomi Max and the MIUI 8 OS at the launch but Liu De, the co-founder and VP of Xiaomi told a Beijing conference that the Mi smartwatch is ready for the big time.

There has been rumours that the Mi Watch would hit the market in the second half of 2016 this would make a smartwatch launch at a May 10 event likely. This will be the first smartwatch for grown-ups that Xiaomi has made. It built one for 299 yuan that was aimed directly at kids.

With the Mi smartwatch being officially confirmed, at very least the specs and details should be presented on May 10.

De also said that the company would be focusing on offline outlets this year. This means you might see a few retail stores will popping up in China.
