Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is a different beast

by on21 February 2019

5G behemoth coming this spring

It is obvious that Samsung is betting big on 5G and it is obviously big enough bet to make a dedicated flagship Galaxy S10 5G smartphone, featuring a bigger screen, beefier battery, and a four rear camera setup.

The Galaxy S10 5G is class of its own as Samsung obviously went all in with this one, but there is always a catch. First of all, it appears that Galaxy S10 5G will be exclusive to Verizon, at least in the US. We also do not have any precise information regarding the price or the availability date, other than this Spring, but with such high-end features, it is definitely going to heavily break the $1,000 mark.

According to the official specification sheet, it will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC or Samsung's Exynos 9820 SoC, of course, with the addition of the 5G modem, most likely Qualcomm's Snapdragon X50.

The Galaxy S10 5G is a behemoth, measuring at 162.6x77.1x7.9mm and weighing in at 198g, which makes it larger than the Galaxy Note9. This does not come as a surprise considering that it is built around a massive 6.7-inch curved Dynamic AMOLED screen with 3040x1440 resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio, leaving it with 502ppi of pixel density.

It will pack 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (has no microSD card slot) and so far Samsung did not reveal any details regarding other versions.

As noted, it has a quadruple rear camera setup with similar sensors as the Galaxy S10+, but with the addition to 3D Depth hQVGA sensor. So you get telephoto 12MP PDAF, F2.4, OIS (45°), wide-angle 12MP Dual Pixel AF, F1.5/F2.4, OIS (77°), and ultra-wide 16MP FF, F2.2 (123°) sensors and lenses, as well as the aforementioned hQVGA 3D depth one.

The dual front camera setup has 10MP Dual Pixel AF, F1.9 (80°) sensor and the same hQVGA 3D Depth one.

Samsung also equipped it with a massive 4,500mAh battery with super fast wireless and wired charging, and it gets all the features, improvements, and connectivity as the rest of the Galaxy S10 lineup.

Hopefully, Samsung will unveil more information soon and the key one here is the price.
