While Apple sees sales slump

Huawei and Xiaomi have estimated their smartphone shipments for 2019 to surge over 20 percent compared to this year.

MediaTek, Novatek Microelectronics, Hixmax Technologies, Sitonix Technology and FocalTech can expect higher shipment increases for the year than other local peers, according to industry sources.

It is not a cheap Chinese thing. In fact smartphone vendors Oppo and Vivo can hardly expect their sales to grow significantly in 2019, due mainly to their relatively weak momentum in developing the international market and a slowdown in domestic demand.

However Huawei and Xiaomi, both having performed well in developing sales in India and other emerging markets. Huawei, for instance, has recently projected its annual smartphone shipments for 2019 to reach at least 200 million units for a 25 percent surge from 2018, given the vendor's strong competitiveness in midrange to budget-level smartphone segments in emerging markets.

Boasting a complete ecosystem, Xiaomi has developed a solid presence in the India market while chipping away market shares held by other peers in China. The company has set a high shipment goal of 150 million units for 2019.

With the encouraging shipment growth projections set by Huawei and Xiaomi, their supply chain partners in Taiwan are expected to post higher revenue increases than the industry average growth in 2019.
