Nvidia price-cut is not permanent

Updated: Just for this batch

According to an e-mail that ha found its way into our hands, Nvidia's last price-cut for GTX 460 1GB and GTX 470 is not permanent, but rather just a temporary price cut.

According to what we know and what we have heard from retail/e-tail sources, the price-cut only covers inventory and sales of GTX 460 1GB and GTX 470 cards between October 21st and November 14th. This could mean that after November 14th the prices of these cards might get back up.

Just to remind you, the MSRP for the GTX 460 1GB is 169 euro, while the GTX 470 was cut to 219 euro. Take this info with a grain of salt as retailers/e-tailers aren't quite keen to show any solid confirmation or hard proof, as you don't want to get on Nvidia's bad side. Nvidia could also simply continue with this even after the November 14th but for now the date that retaile/e-tail has is the November 14th.

Unsurprisingly, the date of the price cut is quite familiar.

Update: Nvidia was kind enough to inform us that the claims regarding the price update aren't true. Igor Stanek, Product PR Manager EMEAI informed us that :"Any claims that our pricing update is temporary are patently false. The price adjustments we made are not temporary, and are reflective of an upcoming change in our product lineup."

We are quite sure the e-mail that we've received came from a legit source and we did say that Nvidia might continue with these prices after the November 14th. According to the statement from Nvidia, the new prices are here to stay.  We apologize for any inconvenience our report might have caused you.
