Priced at $269 and $169

AMD has officially launched two new Ryzen 8000 series SKUs, the Ryzen 7 8700F and the Ryzen 5 8400F. Based on the earlier released 8000-series APUs, these two Ryzen F-series SKUs come with disabled integrated graphics and the same 65W TDP.

The Ryzen 7 8700F is pretty much the same as the 8700G counterpart, featuring an 8-core/16-thread Zen 4 core configuration, but, surprisingly, it comes with a 100MHz lower maximum boost frequency of 5.0GHz. It still packs 24MB of cache, has the same 65W TDP, and comes with the AMD Ryzen AI 16 TOPS NPU. The Ryzen 7 8700F will come bundled with the Wraith Stealth cooler.

The Ryzen 5 8400F comes with a bit of a different configuration as it is based on Phoenix 2 design. It is a 6-core/12-thread SKU with two standard Zen 4 cores and four Zen 4c cores. The main two Zen 4 cores boost at up to 4.7GHz while the Zen 4c cores boost is usually lower. It has 22MB of cache, the same 65W TDP, and lacks the Ryzen AI NPU. It also comes bundled with the Wraith Stealth cooler.

According to AMD, the Ryzen 7 8700F should be competitive with an Intel Core i5-14400F, while the Ryzen 5 8400F goes for the Core i5-13400F. The price is set at $269 for the Ryzen 7 8700F, making it about $60 less expensive than the Ryzen 7 8700G counterpart, while the Ryzen 5 8400F is priced at $169, a mere $10 less than the Ryzen 5 8500G.
