As said, Qualcomm has shared a bit more details about the upcoming Snapdragon X Series platform, including both the Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite SoCs, including some performance details and what we can expect from these notebook SoCs. The Snapdragon X Series platform will include a total of four SKUs, three Snapdragon X Elite and a single Snapdragon X Plus SoC, at least for now. The Snapdragon X Elite will pack 12 Oryon CPU cores while the Snapdragon X Plus will come with 10-core Oryon CPU cores.

Qualcomm is promising a platform that will deliver exceptional performance, low battery life, and industry-leading on-device AI capabilities. Built on a 4nm manufacturing process at TSMC, the custom Oryon CPU cores and the Adreno GPU offer impressive performance, at least according to Qualcomm. In addition to Oryon CPU cores, which boost up to 4.2GHz (dual-core boost) on the top-tier Snapdragon X Elite SoC, 42MB of total cache, and the Adreno GPU, it supports LPDDR5x memory, has a dedicated NPU capable of 45 TOPS, and supports PCIe NVMe Gen 4 SSDs and UFS 4.0 for storage, and comes with Snapdragon X65 5G modem and Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 system with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The Snapdragon X Series will come in four SKUs, at least for now, including three Snapdragon X Elite and a single Snapdragon X Plus SoC. All three Snapdragon X Elite SoCs pack 12 Oryon CPU cores with different base and boost clocks, and different GPU performance, peaking at 4.6 TFLOPs. The Snapdragon X Plus SoC still packs 42MB of total cache, comes with 10 Oryon CPU cores with a maximum frequency of 3.4GHz, lacks dual-core Boost, and provides 3.8TFLOPs of GPU compute performance. It still packs the same Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPs of performance.

Performance-wise, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series platform is beating both Intel Core Ultra 7 155H and AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, while using around 54 percent less power. The Snapdragon X Elite, as we have seen in earlier benchmarks, can also play some games, pushing 30 FPS in Baldur's Gate 3 and up to 40 FPS in Control, both on low visual settings.

Qualcomm says that OEMs plan to introduce the first devices based on the Snapdragon X Series platform in mid-2024, and hopefully, more details should come soon, as some devices have already leaked online.
