A departure from Total War titles

Napoleon: Total War developer Creative Assembly is apparently developing something new. That something new is (believe it or not) a new sports title for Sega. Currently, we don’t know what the sports title will be, other than the fact that it will be for next gen systems, according to the latest ad looking for developers to add to the project.

While Creative Assembly is best known for their strategy titles, they have dipped their toes into the sports pond before by developing two Rugby titles for Electronic Art’s EA Sport brand. Of course, that was a long time ago; and from what we can remember about those titles, they didn’t actually set the sales charts on fire.

With some of the recent strategy offerings that the studio has developed you have to wonder what kind of title Sega would be having these guys develop. Whispers we hear seem to indicate that it could be something for the motion controllers for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and Sega will announce it at E3. Still, it is interesting that this well known strategy developer is now working on a sports title. It just goes to show you that every studio has to pay the bills sometimes.
