A very special evening for Microsoft

As we
have already told you, Microsoft will be holding a special launch for Project Natal on Sunday, June 13th before the actual press briefing prior to the actual start of E3. Microsoft is now sending out invites to what they are calling the “World Premier of Project Natal,” and the evening will feature a special performance by Cirque Du Soleil. This is a first for a video game-related launch as far as we know.

Cirque Du Soleil from Canada has been doing theme-based performances of all types for years. The troupe has several shows running in Las Vegas, and we can tell you from own experience that they are amazing shows to see. What we are not sure about is how Microsoft’s motion sensing and capture technology exactly fits in with what Cirque Du Soleil might have to offer; so we will have to wait and see.

One thing is for sure:  it looks like this will be the launch to see this year during E3, as Microsoft is apparently pulling out all the stops in an effort to test the limits of our imagination. It could be, however, that Natal isn’t as compelling as intended at this point and they need a massive distraction; and that is where Cirque Du Soleil comes in. We are sure that the video will be on the Internet after it happens and, if nothing else, it will be interesting to watch.
