Activision pulls them off of current project

When Activision
said that they were not worried about potential resource gaps to allow Call of Duty development to continue, they were not kidding. Sources are telling us that Activision developer Raven Software has had a number of its resources pulled off the current James Bond project that they had been working on, and they have now been assigned to a new team that will be working on COD.

Of course, we are not sure exactly what role the Raven team might play in the COD development, but we are hearing that they will start working on a Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops to start with. Raven does have extensive experience working on FPS titles in the past and has a number of resources that would be able to be spun up quickly for development on a COD title.

While we don’t yet expect the Raven team to take over a specific COD title, our sources seem to think that they will fill in the gaps on the Infinity Ward team that is said to be working on not only an additional Map Pack for Modern Warfare 2 for this fall, but the planned Modern Warfare 3 title that is expected to be slated for arrival in November of 2011. We will have to see what happens, but we do think that at least from Activision’s current perspective this is the plan that they are going with.
