Huawei has also built three microphones into the chassis of the smartphone. The top end model has a 6.58-inch OLED screen.

Winston Eavis, a senior executive at Huawei Europe, told Fudzilla by video conference that the company's partners are already taking pre-orders with prices in the UK at £899 for the P40 Pro, and £699 for the P40. The P40 Pro+ will be available within a few months.

Availability for the devices was good, he said, with production in China relatively unaffected by the coronavirus.

He also said that sales for smartphones were still holding up, as people in countries in lockdown wanted to stay in touch with family and friends.
