Minecraft for 360 crosses 7 million in sales

by on01 July 2013

Xbox One version is still coming, as well

The sales of Minecraft on the Xbox 360 just keep growing, and we have to wonder if it the avalanche will ever stop. Developers 4J Studios, who handled the conversion to the Xbox 360 platform, has confirmed via their Twitter feed that the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has crossed over 7 million in sales. This is a very incredible number for any Xbox 360 game, but impressive for a game that started life as a downloadable title.

Sales of Minecraft reached the 6 million mark toward the end of March 2013 just as the planning and additional development was taking place for the game to enter retail, with an actual disc-based retail release of Minecraft on the Xbox 360. While the sales of the 360 version are impressive, the PC version of the game has racked up 11 million in sales and shows very little signs of slowing down.

Microsoft confirmed at E3 that Minecraft is coming as an exclusive for the Xbox One. No additional details were announced, but we suspect that Xbox One owners will be playing Minecraft on their Xbox One shortly after release.
