Sid Meier talks up his first mobile game

Fokkers, Maxims and castor oil coming to iOS

Legendary developer Sid Meier finally seems to be taking mobile gaming seriously, but Civ addicts might be in for a surprise.

Meier’s first mobile game is an aerial combat strategy set in World War I, not a mobile version of Civilization. Ace Patrol is a turn-based game and it’s not freemium, which is a good thing since most freemium games are nothing but rip-offs.

In an interview with CNET, Meier said the game brings the coolness to flying WWI planes to an iOS-friendly format. It should launch later this week, but there is still no word on a possible Android version – it doesn’t seem to be in the works at this point.

Ace Patrol will cost $5 to unlock completely, the first few levels are free and buying access to one of four nationalities will set you back $1.99.

So, in case you want to relive the Fokker scourge and go to war in support of terrorists who shot and killed our archduke and his pregnant wife in Sarajevo, you can be British or French for just $1.99.
