EVGA shows its X299 motherboard lineup at Computex 2017

by on05 June 2017

X299 Dark, X299 FTW and X299 Micro detailed

EVGA had its full X299 motherboard lineup at the Computex 2017 show but the most interesting ones are the new X299 Dark, X299 FTW and the micro-ATX X299 Micro.

The X299 Dark will be EVGA's newest flagship motherboard, featuring an active cooling system which actually pushes air over two M.2 slots and drives. It also has a few other unique features, like the bundled bench stand plate, triple BIOS support, on-board voltage display, 10-zone temperature monitor, dual Gigabit Ethernet and more.

It is an EATX motherboard which has a 12-layer PCB design with 14-phase digital VRM, drawing power from a pair of 8-pin EPS connectors, has four memory slots with support for 64GB of DDR4-4133 memory in quad-channel, has plenty of PCIe slots for 4-way SLI support, has eight SATA 6Gbps and two U.2 port 32Gbps slots as well as two key M and one key E M.2 slots, plenty of USB ports, including two USB 3.1 Type-A/Type-C ports and more.

The EVGA X299 FTW is placed just below the X299 Dark and is also based on an EATX form-factor. It draws power from a pair of 8-pin EPS12V connectors, which does not come as a surprise considering it has the same 14-phase digital VRM. Unlike the flagship motherboard, this one does not have an active M.2 cooling and only supports up to 3-way SLI and has dual BIOS support, but it also comes with eight memory slots with support for up to 128GB of DDR4-4133 memory in quad-channel.

Since it comes with a "K" branding, it features Killer E2500 Ethernet, next to a single Intel Gigabit one. It also has eight SATA 6Gbps and two U.2 32Gbps ports, two M.2 ports, on-board temperature monitor and plenty of USB ports. It also has an RGB I/O cover as well as RGB chipset heatsink.

The most interesting one is the new X299 Micro. Despite its small size, it comes with plenty of features including a 12-phase VRM, powered via 8-pin EPS and 24-pin connectors, support for up to 64GB of DDR4-4133 memory in four slots, on-board temperature monitor, integrated 802.11ac dual-band WiFi, Intel Gigabit Ethernet, one key M 80mm M.2 slot and one key E vertical M.2 slot, six SATA 6Gbps ports and one U.2 32Gbps port, eight USB 3.0 and two USB 3.1 ports and more.

EVGA did not want to talk about the price until Intel releases its Core X-series on June 29th so we will surely keep an eye out for that piece of information.
