Samsung’s adding tailor-made features to its large-screen Galaxy Note 7 are causing the phone to be a sensation in China.

According to the Korea Timesanalysts have noted that the phone is doing well in China thanks to the fact that Samsung had customised the device for China-specific needs. Amongst other things, Samsung came up with a unique color line-up of blue, gold and black unlike in other markets.

Samsung has noticed that Chinese customers showed a favorable response to the Note 7. The Chinese seem to like iris scanning too. The company is mulling over a plan to introduce a model which has 128GB internal storage – double  the standard model's 64GB.

"There are needs for bigger storage in China. Hence, we think of marketing the Note 7 with 128GB storage. The final decision has yet to be made, though,"a Samsung official said.

Samsung is banking on the fact that along with the recently-launched Galaxy S7, the Galaxy Note 7 will increase its market share in China's premium segment while the Galaxy C sells more briskly in the mid-tier sector.

Samsung had total control of the Chinese market for years until home grown manufacturers nudged past it in the third quarter of 2014.
