One of major coups over the last couple of years was the success of its smartphones in certain markets. It has gone unnoticed in the west, but Lenovo is now a force to be reckoned with in China and parts of Asia. Now it’s time to go global.
The Vibe X has been shown off before, it’s a 1080p 5-inch phones with a MediaTek quad-core chip clocked at 1.5GHz and it should carry a $470 price tag in China, which doesn’t sound very cheap considering what ZTE and Huaweii have to offer, as both the Mi 3 and revamped Geek come in under $350.
The new Vibe Z was leaked under the K910 codename and it’s a bit more interesting. With a huge 5.5-inch 1080p screen, it is said to be just 7mm thin. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 800 SoC, reportedly clocked at 2.2GHz and it has 2GB of RAM. It’s also got a 13-megapixel camera, but there is still no word on price or release date.
However, Lenovo has made it clear that it plans to ship its first smartphones to the US by the end of the year and the Vibe Z will get the honour of being Lenovo’s first phone to take on the very competitive US phone market.
There are still a number of unknowns, the price tag is one of them, but the specs look good enough, although not earth shattering. The first Qualcomm 800-based superphones are starting to appear and Lenovo’s Vibe Z is bound to face stiff opposition stateside. You can check out some unofficial pics here.
