Europeans get iPhone fever, survey reveals

40 percent of smartphone buyers to choose Apple
According to a study by Yankee Group, European consumers are turning to the iPhone in droves.

Some 40 percent of smartphone buyers in Europe apparently plan to spend their hard earned euros on pricey iPhones. About 19 percent will go for Android devices, while 17 percent opted for BlackBerry and 15 percent will stick with good old Nokia, i.e. Symbian.

The study found that Europeans are showing no signs of Apple fatigue and that Nokia and RIM face an uphill struggle to maintain their market share. Interest in Android phones is also growing, which comes as no surprise.

The survey covered 5,000 consumers and 2,250 tech sector employees in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. We doubt that the survey would have came up with such results had it been conducted in new EU members in Central and Eastern Europe, or for that matter even Greece.

It is a bit easier to go gor an iPhone with plenty of disposable income on hand.
