Liked AMD's version so much it thought it would invent it too

AMD attracted a bit of attention when it showed off it external GPU system a while back – so much good press it appeared that Nvidia thought "we should have something like that".

Nvidia has announced its Quadro And TITAN xP External GPU Solutions, The idea is that it will allow graphics designer types to work from their laptops.with a Pascal-based TITAN xP or Quadro graphics card within an external GPU (eGPU)

Nvidia will be partnering with a number of hardware partners including Bizon, Magma, and Sonnet, who will make compatible solutions available in September.

Bob Pette, Nvidia's  VP for Professional Visualisation said that  mobile systems are getting thinner and lighter, with limited performance and memory.

“Our eGPUs can now solve this problem, enabling creatives to plug into our most capable GPUs so they could do their best work on the most graphically demanding applications.”

Tragically Nvidia did not seem too interested in providing any technical details so we can decide if it's better than what AMD has been working on.  Still it looks rather nice.
