The UltraWide Gaming Monitor 34UM67 sports a 21:9 QHD panel and LG says it is its first curved monitor designed for gamers, although imaging and business professionals can use it, too. Think of it as a good way of beating workplace stress – if PhotoShop is giving you a hard time, or if your portfolio is performing like the Soviet ruble, you can shoot a few bad guys on a curved display with no frame tearing.

The IPS panel comes in QHD resolution, or 3440 x 1440 pixels. The monitor has a 178-degree viewing angle and can reproduce 99 percent of the sRGB colour space with excellent accuracy, a claim validated by several authorities.

In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company, said LG’s 21:9 monitors are designed with a set of unique user needs in mind.

"The industry has come a long way from the days when one display design was thought to be suitable for all users,” said Lee. “With the amount of time we spend in front of monitors, these products are no longer one size fits all."

LG plans to showcase the new FreeSync monitor at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early next month. The company will also use CES 2015 to showcase the Digital Cinema 4K Monitor (31MU97) featuring full 4K resolution (4096 x 2160) rather than UHD (3840 x 2160), which means it can display 4K content at its native resolution – and that’s good news for video hobbyists and professionals.
