Apple now claims to have fixed the bug at the server side, but it's a temporary fix while programmers work frantically over the weekend to release an update for users of iOS 11.2.
This latest bug is one of many that have plagued Apple recently but this one highlights the risks of having your fridge, toaster, doors or microwave complete with their own IP number.
According to 9to5Mac, the problem isn't with the smart gadgets but with the Homekit framework.
The bug doesn't affect previous versions of iOS, according to that site.
The slightly worrying thing is that Apple knew about the problem in October.
Out here in Fudzilla land, we have a Google Home system but don't really trust it to wake us up in the morning, so have backup systems, such as an old fashioned alarm clock.
