Spotify makes $15 Family plan

by on24 May 2016

To match Apple and Google’s offering

Spotify is the last of big streaming names to finally settle for a US $15 plan that will cover all of your family, or at last up to five people.

Of course if you are in Europe, the Swedish company will charge you €15,00 but it will at least include the local VAT. This definitely makes the bigger families enjoy a lot of legal music across many devices and if you think about it, you only get to pay $3/€3 per user, which is cheaper than a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Each of these five users will have its individual account, gets to keep the playlists he/she creates and only one will get to pay for it.

Apple was the first one to introduce the US $15 family plan and Google followed with the same business model in late 2016. Latest data implies that Spotify attracts some 30 million paying out of 100 million customer based (ad supported model for remaining 70m users). Since its launch in less than a year ago, Apple Music has managed to attract 13 million paying customers.

In the same period Spotify grew from 20 million to 30 million, but we already knew that it will be hard to compete against Apple due to its fanatic fan base.
