Spartan must begin with the letter E

Needs a new name

The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth rumour that Microsoft is looking for a new name for its Project Spartan browser.

Redmond is calling for suggestions for the name but has specified that it must begin with the letter E.  The reason being is that while Microsoft wants to move away from the Internet Explorer, it wants to keep the logo.

Obviously, Internet Exploder will not do and Redmond is looking at Elixa, Evo, Evex, Endeavor and Edge. Edge is the name of the new rendering engine and would lead to marketing slogans like “browsing on the edge” which is pretty much like we have experienced using Internet Explorer.

Here is a list of names, which if Spartan follows Internet Exploder might be accurate: Epileptic, Episcopy, Elude, excrement, eye, enough, examination, extraction, endurance and enemy.  Feel free to stick your own in the comments.

Personally I like Spartan, it has all the imagery of a ruthless fighting machine, which is the enemy of freedom and democracy. It also supports the concept of choosing to stubbornly die rather than flexibly moving on to fight another day.
