With on-board cache memory

OCZ has announced yet another product in its SSD line-up, the Vetex series. Unlike all other SSDs on the market, the new Vertex uses on-board cache memory. The new Vertex series will be available in 30, 60, 120, and 250GB capacities and uses MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash chips.

The new Vertex series will be a part of OCZ "performance" SSD line-up and should replace old OCZ SATA II 2.5-inch SSDs. The on-board cache memory will be limited to 32MB for the 30 and 60GB models while the 120 and 250GB versions will have 64MB of cache memory. The new Vertex series has SATA 3.0 interface, and offers read and write speeds of 200MB/s and 160MB/s, respectively.

According to our info, the new Vertex series should be available soon with a price tag of $129, $249, $469 and US$869 for the 30, 60, 120 and 250GB versions. The new series has a MTBF of 1.5 million hours and is backed by a 2-year warranty.
