Free Play Day with Gold new for Xbox One

Microsoft is testing something new as part of the latest console software beta. Called “Free Play Day with Gold” unlocks titles for Xbox One owners to download and try for 24 hours as an incentive to get Xbox One players to try and buy new games.

It is unclear on how Microsoft will decide which titles will get this “Free Play Day with Gold” and if this will be in addition to demos that are provided for some titles. The first title that this has shown up on is “Max: Curse of the Brotherhood”, but other are soon to follow.

It will be interesting to see what kind of impact this could have on sales, but it is really all about getting Xbox Owners to pull the trigger and buy more titles. Since games are no longer required to have a demo, this could be an interesting way to get people to try new titles or titles that they may heard about, but are unsure if they want to buy them or not.
