LG will not make the Nexus 6

Google not answered its calls

LG will not be making the next version of Google’s Nexus phone. According to LG’s Communications Director Ken Hong Google still hasn’t contacted them over a Nexus deal and normally he would be asked.

Hong said that can mean two things. Either Google ignored his calls or LG simply won’t be making the Nexus 6. It is also possible that Google is not creating a Nexus phone this year at all.

Hong said that he’s fine with some other vendor getting business from Google this time round. “If you can develop a Google phone that gives credibility. But money you earn is not easy, and you become too dependent on Google.”

Supply issues can be tricky, adding that it was Google rather than LG which determines how many phones are to be made. LG was blamed for Nexus 5 shortages.

Still it is not all bad. Word on the street is that LG is making the next Nexus tablet although this is yet to be officially confirmed.
