EA fiscal year 15 lineup disappoints

by on07 May 2014

Reduced releases, means less risk

The release schedule for the upcoming fiscal year 15 titles for both console and PC from Electronic Arts sees the publisher go with a much reduced number of releases. The Electronic Arts 2015 fiscal years runs till March 31st, 2015. While FIFA 15, Madden 15, NHL 15, The Sims 4, NBA Live 15, Dragon Age: Inquisition, a TBA Golf Title of some sort, and one other TBA title that will arrive in Q3 that we assume will be announced at E3.

Missing is new a Need for Speed title which is surprising since the franchise moved to Ghost Games. EA has confirmed that there will be no Need for Speed title in fiscal year 2015, and instead Ghost Games is going to be given more time to work on a new racing title, but in the conference call with investors today, EA CEO Andrew Wilson used the language “great racing title”, but we are not 100% sure that it means it will be a Need for Speed title, but we would think so.

Gone also is the NCAA Football franchise with the organization’s decision to not renew EA’s contract. Also absent was the new Star Wars Battlefront title being developed by DICE. On the telephone conference EA confirmed that we would be hearing more specifics about Battlefront as well as a new Star Wars project by Visceral, and a new Mass Effect project at E3 in a couple of weeks. While one of these could slot into that FY15Q3 TBA slot, we would guess unless Battlefront is much farther along than one would suspect, it isn’t any of these titles.
