Fez 2 unlikely for Xbox One

Change to self-publishing policy necessary

With the news that Fez 2 is coming from Phil Fish, we have to admit that we were happy to hear of the sequel. What has been a bit unexpected was the news that Fez 2 isn’t likely coming to the Xbox One because of the self-publishing policies currently in place on the console.

Currently, Microsoft isn’t allowing indie publishers to self-publish on the Xbox One. Fish says that he would consider publishing on the Xbox One if Microsoft changed its policy; but he doesn’t think it will happen anytime soon, according to an interview with Polygon.

To this point, Microsoft has not been very clear about its plans going forward for indie developers. Sony, on the other hand, has been very vocal about supporting self-publishing for indie developers on the PlayStation 4.
