AMD demonstrates Kaveri APU at Computex 2013

During its Computex 2013 press conference, AMD decided to give a little Kaveri APU platform demonstration and show the new Ruby Techdemo made with CryEngine 3 and with AMD's TressFX technology.

Scheduled to show up before the end of this year, AMD's 28nm Kaveri APU will be based on the Steamroller CPU core, Graphics Core Next GPU and will feature support for AMD's HSA that should bring HUMA memory as well as some other features to the Kaveri APU. According to AMD, we should see up to 15 to 20 percent improvement on the CPU side of the chip, while GPU improvements will be even greater thanks to the GCN-based architecture.

AMD demonstrated the Kaveri APU by running Devil May Cry at what appears to be a decent level of eye-candy. The biggest surprise was probably the new Ruby Techdemo running on the HD 7990 GPU and based on Cytek's CryEngine 3 and featuring a total of 15 different technologies and effects including AMD's TressFX Hair seen in the Tomb Raider game.
