MSI has decided not to go with the reference version of the GTX 770 but instead announced two GTX 770 cards that will both be paired up with its own TwinFrozr cooler, the GTX 770 Gaming series and the GTX 770 Lightning. Both cards will be factory-overclocked and feature 2GB of GDDR5 memory.

In case you missed it earlier, The GTX 770 is based on a 28nm GK104 GPU with 1536 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The reference version works at 1046MHz base and 1085 Boost GPU clocks while 2 or 4GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface works at 7010MHz.

MSI introduced the Gaming series back at Cebit and the MSI GTX 770 Gaming series works at 1098MHz base and 1150MHz Boost GPU clocks while those 2GB of GDDR5 memory remained at reference 7010MHz. The GTX 770 Lightning Edition has a slightly higher factory-overclock and is pretty much the same as the previously released GTX 680 Lightning since it is based on practically the same and just slightly updated GPU. It works at 1150MHz base and 1202MHz Boost GPU clocks and will most likely feature the MSI Reactor, an additional PCB that plugs in the back of the card and provide a bit more voltage stability.

As noted, both graphics cards feature the TwinFrozr IV cooler with two 100mm fans. Unfortunately, MSI did not announce an availabilty date or the precise price for either model.
