EA to do NBA Jam follow up

by on06 April 2011

On Fire Edition coming this fall
Electronic Arts has confirmed that they will be releasing a follow up to the NBA Jam reboot that it released late last year. Originally planned as a download only title for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game was later announced to be bundled with NBA Elite 11. Then plans changed and the title was released at retail for both platforms after it was announced that NBA Elite 11 would be canceled.

This time around EA will be going back to the original plan of a download only title for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store. The new edition of the game is to be called NBA Jam: On Fire Edition and it will be download only offering with no retail this time around.

The On Fire Edition will get new AI programming using technology adapted from the Fight Night titles as well as improved and enhanced visuals. The On Fire Edition will add many new online features including a co-op “Road Trip” campaign mode. Of course the On Fire Edition will feature the latest roster updates. The new AI engine is said to be able to learn your tendencies and adapt its play to them.

While pricing has not been announced, it is expected to be $15 or $20 according to our sources which is far less than the $50 we paid for the retail release last time around. It is expected that the game will be released in October, but right now we say that it will arrive sometime this fall. No word if a Wii version of the title is planned.
